Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get Words Ultra?

Words Ultra is available now on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It's a paid app with no ads, no tracking, and no in-app purchases.

How do I play?

Draw letter tiles to your rack, then place them on the board to form words and connect to words already played. Land on premium squares for bonus points, and use all your tiles for an extra reward. Choose a Quick game for a fast session or a Standard game for the full-size board.

Can I play against a friend?

Yes — choose a vs Friend game to challenge your friends through Game Center. It's a fun, engaging way to play Quick or Standard matches, taking your turns whenever it suits you. You can also play against the computer at adjustable difficulty levels.

What is the daily challenge?

Each day, Words Ultra serves a fresh deal that's the same for every player. Solve it, climb the daily leaderboard, and build a streak as you keep coming back.

How does scoring work?

Each tile is worth points, and landing on the board's premium squares boosts your score with double or triple letter and word bonuses. Use all of your tiles in a single turn for an extra bonus. Your running score and your opponent's are shown above the board.

Can I switch between British and American words?

Yes. Words Ultra includes both GB and US English dictionaries. Switch between them from the home screen or in Settings, and the chosen word list is used to validate your plays.

How do I change the theme or tiles?

Open Settings and choose from hand-tuned board themes and tile styles — from classic green felt to warm wood and rich wine. Your choice is remembered for next time.

Does Words Ultra work offline?

Yes — Words Ultra is fully playable offline. A network connection is only needed for Game Center leaderboards and the daily challenge.
