Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get Nonogram Ultra?

Nonogram Ultra is available now on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It's a tasteful, well-crafted puzzle game with no third-party ads and no clutter.

How do I play a nonogram?

A nonogram is a grid puzzle solved with pure logic. The numbers along each row and column tell you the lengths of the filled runs in that line, in order — so a clue of "3 1" means a run of three filled cells, then a gap, then one filled cell. Use the clues to work out which cells to fill and which to leave empty. Every puzzle has exactly one logical solution, so you never have to guess.

What are the three ways to mark the board?

You can Fill the cells the number clues call for, Cross Out the cells you know are empty, or drop a Maybe — a tentative "?" pencil mark for when you're not sure yet. A Maybe mark never counts as a mistake. You can also drag to paint several cells at once and undo any step.

What grid sizes are there?

Four sizes: Quick (5×5) for a coffee-break solve, Casual (5×10) for a relaxed in-between solve, Standard (10×10) for the classic sweet spot, and Expert (10×15) for when you want a real challenge. There's also a Daily Challenge.

What is the Daily Challenge?

Each day, Nonogram Ultra serves one puzzle that's the same for every player. Solve it to keep your streak alive and reach 7, 30 and 100-day milestones, and compare your time on the daily leaderboard.

What does a hint do, and what is a Perfect Solve?

If you get stuck, you can spend a hint to reveal one correct cell. Live scoring rewards speed and precision, and a Perfect Solve is one completed with zero mistakes and no hints.

How do I change the theme or appearance?

Open Settings and choose from five space-inspired themes — Midnight, Nebula, Aurora, Galaxy and Eclipse — each with its own colour palette and a gently animated cosmic backdrop. Light, Dark and System appearance are supported throughout, and your choice is remembered for next time.

Can I turn off sound and haptics?

Yes. The subtle sound effects and haptics can be turned off any time in Settings.

Does Nonogram Ultra work offline?

Yes — Nonogram Ultra plays fully offline. A network connection is only needed for Game Center leaderboards and the Daily Challenge.
