Terms of Use

Reader Ultra — Effective Date: August 1, 2026

Overview

Reader Ultra is a native RSS and Atom feed reader for iPhone, iPad and Mac. It syncs your feeds, folders and reading state across your devices through the Reader Service included with the app. By downloading or using Reader Ultra, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app, and request a refund from Apple through the App Store. Reader Ultra is provided by us.nz.

Your Account

Syncing requires an account on the us.nz Reader Service. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Please provide accurate details when you sign up, and contact us at apps@us.nz if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used in breach of these Terms, or that is placing an unreasonable load on the service. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time — see the Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.

Feeds, Articles & Third-Party Content

The articles, headlines, summaries, images and other content shown in Reader Ultra come from the third-party feeds and websites you choose to subscribe to. We do not write, edit, verify, control or endorse this content, and subscribing to a feed in the app is not a recommendation of it.

Because this content originates with third parties, it can be delayed, incomplete, out of date, or incorrect, and it may change or disappear without notice — for example if a publisher edits or withdraws an article, changes their feed, moves it, puts it behind a paywall, or takes it offline. Feeds may fail to load or stop updating entirely, and article extraction in Reader view may not always capture a page perfectly.

Reader Ultra relays this content to you on an “as-is” basis, with no warranty of any kind — including no warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. You should not rely on anything shown in the app for critical, financial, medical, legal or other decision-making purposes; if you need authoritative information, consult the publisher or an official source directly.

Content you read through Reader Ultra remains the property of its publisher or other rights holder and is subject to their own terms and copyright. Reader Ultra is a personal reading tool; it does not grant you any rights to redistribute, republish or otherwise reuse that content.

Ad & Tracker Blocking

Full Website view loads pages directly from the publisher’s own site and applies content-blocking rules that block ads and trackers by default. This blocking is provided on a best-effort basis with no guarantee: some ads or trackers may still get through, and blocking may occasionally cause a page to render or behave incorrectly. You can set per-feed exceptions if a site does not work as expected.

Siri & Apple Intelligence

Where your device supports it, Reader Ultra can summarise and answer questions about your unread articles through Siri and Apple Intelligence. Summaries and other generated text are produced automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. They are a convenience, not a substitute for reading the original article, and should not be relied upon as an accurate account of it. These features are provided by Apple and are subject to Apple’s own terms and availability.

Availability of the Service

Reader Ultra depends on the us.nz Reader Service, on Apple services such as iCloud and push notifications, and on the publishers whose feeds you subscribe to. We do not guarantee that the app, sync, background refresh, or any particular feed will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. The service, or any part of it, may be changed, suspended, or discontinued at any time, without notice, at our discretion. We may also stop supporting the app entirely.

Reader Ultra is not an archive. Retention settings automatically prune articles older than the window you choose, and articles may also become unavailable when a publisher removes them. You should not treat the app as the only copy of anything you want to keep.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use Reader Ultra only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to misuse the app or the Reader Service, interfere with its operation, attempt to access it in unauthorised ways, use it to access content you are not entitled to access, or use it in a way that breaches the terms, paywalls, robots directives or copyright of the publishers whose feeds you read. You also agree not to place an unreasonable load on the service — for example through automated access, excessive polling, or subscribing to an abusive number of feeds.

Illegal Material & Local Laws

Reader Ultra lets you subscribe to any feed or website address you choose. You alone are responsible for the feeds you add and the content you access, store, or view through the app, and for making sure that doing so is lawful.

You must not use Reader Ultra to access, retrieve, store, cache, share or distribute any material that is illegal in your country, region, or any other place from which you use the app. This includes, without limitation, child sexual abuse material, material that promotes or facilitates terrorism or violent extremism, material that incites violence or hatred against people or groups, objectionable or banned publications, material that infringes copyright or other intellectual property rights, and material obtained through unauthorised access to a computer system.

What is lawful varies considerably from one country to another, and content that is freely published in one place may be restricted, censored, classified, or criminal in another. We do not review, filter, classify, or geo-restrict the feeds you choose, and we make no representation that any feed or article is lawful where you are. It is your responsibility to know and comply with the laws that apply to you, including those of any country you are travelling in.

If we become aware that an account is being used in breach of this section, we may remove content from our service, suspend or terminate the account without notice, and preserve or disclose relevant information where we are legally required to do so or where we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with a lawful request from a court, regulator, or law-enforcement authority.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, us.nz and its suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of — or inability to use — Reader Ultra, the Reader Service, or the content it provides. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. If we do, we will update the effective date above. Your continued use of Reader Ultra after any change means you accept the updated Terms.
