Frequently Asked Questions

When can I get Reader Ultra?

Reader Ultra is currently in development and coming soon to the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It's designed with no ads and no third-party tracking.

What kinds of feeds does Reader Ultra support?

Reader Ultra reads RSS and Atom feeds. You can give any feed a custom title, set per-feed reading preferences, and organise feeds into folders with custom SF Symbol icons and drag-to-reorder.

How does syncing work?

Your feeds, articles, and read/starred state sync through your private us.nz account, partitioned per account and secured with API-key and session auth. Sync is incremental, so only new articles and changes are exchanged. Your app settings sync separately through your personal iCloud, and your account password is never synced through iCloud.

What's the difference between Reader view and Full Website view?

Reader view shows a clean, parsed layout with typography you control — font, size, and weight. Full Website view loads the original page through WebKit with ad and tracker blocking and an optional dark theme for light-only sites. You can choose either globally or feed by feed.

Can I import my existing feeds?

Yes. Reader Ultra supports OPML import and export, preserving your folder structure and order — so you can bring your feeds in and take them with you at any time.

How do I customise the look?

Open Settings to choose from 25 accent colours and 24 app icons, switch between Compact and Comfortable list density with optional thumbnails and summaries, and set independent font design, size, weight, and line limits — all with a live preview. You can also choose Light, Dark, or System.

Will new articles arrive on their own?

Yes. Reader Ultra uses silent background push to quietly refresh new articles, and you can set auto-refresh to run every 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes — or turn it off and pull to refresh whenever you like.

Does Reader Ultra keep my old articles?

That's up to you. Per-device retention lets you keep everything or prune articles older than a window you choose. Starred items are always kept.
